Community Awarness Alert

A recent Omaha Police bulletin presents information on an identity-theft scam perpetrated in the western section of the Omaha area. Typically, the scam involves a group of suspects breaking into cars to steal purses. The purses provide credit cards, checks, and identification, which are used to commit bank fraud.  Click Here to read complete bulletin.

MHHOA Board of Director Changes

The MHHA Board of Directors announces that after nearly 4 years of service, Manuel Marichal is stepping down as President and Board Member. The neighborhood owes Manuel an incredible debt for his leadership during a particularly trying time, and we on the Board feel he left us in a much better position than when he joined. The recent improvements to the neighborhood and the operating methods of the Board are a direct result of this leadership.  The next time you see him in the neighborhood give him a salute of thank you - he deserves it!

Per the by-laws, current Vice President Alan Gardner will assume the President's role, and Steve VanCamp has agreed to remain on the Board in the position of Vice President through the end of 2012. We encourage anyone who feels they have something to offer, to consider joining us on the Board. We have a number of active and pending projects, and having a variety of opinion and talent is always the best way to operate. Contact any Board member if you're interested, or to learn more about time commitments and our current action items needing support.

It's Official Now - The Signs are Up!

The MHHA Neighborhood Watch program functions by neighbors keeping watch over each others' homes and property. We are the eyes and ears for the Omaha Police Department only. We are not authorized at any time by OPD, the MHHA, or the MHHA Neighborhood Watch program to pursue and/or engage any suspicious person(s).

Mission Hills Neighborhood Watch Program

Your Board of Directors is pleased to announce that a Neighborhood Watch Program has been established for our community.  As you are aware, the Board pursued this initiative in an effort to deter future crime similar to what was experienced during the Summer and Fall of 2011.  The neighborhood was divided into block precincts and volunteers to be Block Captains were requested. . .

Hats Off to Boy Scout Troup 281!!!

Members of Boy Scout Troup 282  have agreed to pick-up litter at all of the entrances and surrounding property of Mission Hills twice a month this year.  On April 3rd, Mission Hills resident, Doug Hartmann and Scouting son, Tyler, did their first clean-up.  Doug reported to Mission Hills Board Member, Erik Booth, as following:

"...they filled up almost two bags over by the insurance agent office (threw them in the gas station dumpster), and about a half bag the rest of the way which they just took home.  Took less than an hour.  They’ll probably rotate among other neighborhood scouts throughout the summer and do it every two weeks.  Doug said they must have picked up a hundred of the little 5-hour energy bottles."

Wonder where all those 5-hour energy bottles came from!  Many thanks to all Troup 282 members and fathers for their Mission Hills community volunteer work this summer.

Now you can do your part -  Remind all members of your family and visiting friends and any workmen you may have at your residence, not to litter the Mission Hills Neighborhood in particular or Omaha in general.!

Please Support Cub Scout Pack 549 Can Drive

Cub Scout Pack 549 needs your help in supporting their monthly can drive.  Scouts will pickup your bag of cans left at the curb by 8:30 a.m. the 2nd Saturday of each month. The money collected from recycling helps pay for fun Scout activities each year!

Join the Mission Hills HOA Email List Service

What is an Email List Service Anyway?  "A mailing list is a collection of names and addresses used by an individual or an organization to send material to multiple recipients. The term is often extended to include the people subscribed to such a list, so the group of subscribers is referred to as "the mailing list", or simply "the list.  When similar or identical material is sent out to all subscribers on a mailing list, it is often referred to as a mailshot or a blast."

Your Board of Directors would like to be able to keep you informed in a much quicker and less expensive manner than regular U.S. Mail and so we have decided to set up a MHHOA Email List Serve.

If your email address listed in the website Directory is correct, you will be invited via email to join the email list serve in the next few days.  If we do not have your email address listed in the Directory, please send a message to the website administrator in which you request an invitation be mailed to your email address.

The MHHOA Email List Serve should be a great way for you to communicate with your Board and fellow Mission Hills Homeowners.  You can use it to alert neighbors of lost pets, vandalism or a home burglary in a much more timely manner.  Your Board belives it will be a real asset to the MHHOA.

At a recent meeting the MHHOA Board of Directors agreed that a "Mission Hills Homes For Sale" page with appropriate links  should be added to the website.  It is the thought of the board that any assistance to help sell a home listed for sale in Mission Hills would benefit all homeowners in the association.

With that thought in mind here is a link to homes currently for sale in Mission Hills.
